Yesterday, our PES students sang their loudest "thank you!" to all our amazing veterans! We appreciate the sacrifice our Veterans have made throughout the years for our freedoms.

This week, Mrs. DeCrane took 2nd grade outside to experience the magic of the Ginkgo Tree. An amazing detail about the Ginkgo Tree is that it loses all of its leaves in a day or less! It’s one of Mrs. DeCrane’s favorite science traditions. The kids were very happy to get to see it happen and experience it!

At PES we are working on an attendance challenge each month that matches with our Characteristic of the month. Each class that has 100% attendance for a day recieves a letter that spells out the characteristic. For September was the word was RESPONSIBLE. We had 3 classes reach the goal of 100% attendance in their classroom for at least 11 days in the month of September! Congratulations to Mrs. Kubatzke's Class, Mrs. Barton's Class, and Mrs. DeCrane's Class! Each class recieved popsicles for their reward! Next month we will be working on RESPECTFUL!

Thank you to our HS cheerleaders for coming to the playground this morning! The students love when our High Schoolers come to visit! Good luck to the EP Panthers tonight against the Riverdale Rams!

Exciting things happening here at PES! We had our RESPONSIBILITY assembly on Wednesday! Our winners had a record 5 tubes filled! Congratulations to our 2nd grade for winning our RESPONSIBILITY challenge this month! All our grades worked hard on RESPONSIBILITY and are already half way to their goal of school wide incentive! The students worked hard on their citizen characteristics this year! They worked SO HARD that they earned their incentive in April, A WHOLE MONTH EARLY! Students found out at the assembly on Wednesday that Friday was going to be a fun filled day of playing at the park, a cookout generously cooked by the Prophetstown Fire and Ambulance service and distributed by our hard working kitchen staff. And fun fun and more fun for the afternoon! We also have our final Student and Staff Member of the Month for PES! Congratulations to Ms. Johns and Penny Gerlach!

Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico CUSD #3 Families,
It is with deep sadness that I share the loss of one of our students as a result of the tragic accident that occurred today. This is an unimaginable loss, and our hearts go out to the family and all who are grieving.
As a district, we are committed to supporting our students and staff during this incredibly difficult time. We will have counselors, social workers, and area ministers present tomorrow (May 1) at the 6–12 campus to provide comfort, guidance, and a space for students to process this tragedy.
Please take time to talk with your child, as students may respond in a variety of ways and may need additional support in the coming days.
The district will not be releasing the student’s name at this time.
Please keep the student’s loved ones and our school community in your thoughts and prayers.
Heidi Lensing, Superintendent
