Spring in Illinois is unpredictable—and while we’ve enjoyed some nice days, the forecast for Sunday night into Monday is a reminder that we are not yet out of “winter.” While we are currently planning on a regular attendance day on Monday, should the weather make a delay or cancellation necessary - we will communicate through the district website, Facebook, email, text, phone call, and local news channels.

Prophetstown families:

We wanted to let everyone know that this afternoon, there was an accident involving one of our school buses. Students were on the bus being transported at the time of the accident. District officials promptly contacted EMS and law enforcement to respond. All students were assessed and no serious injuries were reported. Four individuals were transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

The incident remains under investigation, and the District is fully cooperating with law enforcement as we work to gather all facts. District policies are being implemented as part of the investigation.

We are grateful that no serious injuries occurred and all parents have been notified. We appreciate all of the first responders who assisted at the scene.

Renovation Walk-Through

Hello PLT Families,

This is a quick heads up that we may need to place some bus routes on self-transport tomorrow, Thursday, March 5. There is a lot of illness going around right now, and our bus drivers are doing their best to work through it and keep routes running as normal. We will do everything we can to avoid moving routes to self-transport; however, if we do not have enough drivers available tomorrow, we may have no other option for some routes.

If your child’s route does become self-transport, you will receive additional notification directly from the Transportation Department.

We are sending this message simply as a precaution so families can plan accordingly. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
Heidi Lensing
Superintendent

The water main break has been located and the city will be shutting off the water to fix it. The middle school portion of the campus will be under a boil order tomorrow, February 27. The high school side is unaffected. We will have bottled water available for staff and students. Students may want to bring a full water bottle with them to school tomorrow.

A water main break has occurred in front of the Middle/High School campus. Ferry Street is currently closed.

Route to campus: Please reroute off Route 78 and use Mosher Drive (north of the campus) to access the building.

At this time, the City has informed us that water service at the campus remains on. They are working to repair the break and hope to do so without shutting off water.

We will continue to monitor the situation and share updates as needed.

Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico CUSD #3 Families, It is with deep sadness that I share the loss of one of our students as a result of the tragic accident that occurred today. This is an unimaginable loss, and our hearts go out to the family and all who are grieving. As a district, we are committed to supporting our students and staff during this incredibly difficult time. We will have counselors, social workers, and area ministers present tomorrow (May 1) at the 6–12 campus to provide comfort, guidance, and a space for students to process this tragedy. Please take time to talk with your child, as students may respond in a variety of ways and may need additional support in the coming days. The district will not be releasing the student’s name at this time. Please keep the student’s loved ones and our school community in your thoughts and prayers. Heidi Lensing, Superintendent
