Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico CUSD #3

The 25-26 PLT District calendar has been updated to reflect the changes to the end of the year due to the emergency closure day on January 23rd. The current last day will be a half day on Wednesday, May 20th.

Due to anticipated extreme cold, all PLT schools are CLOSED tomorrow, Friday, Jan 23. All activities are also cancelled. Please stay warm and safe!

The heat is currently working throughout the building at Prophetstown Elementary.

Regular student attendance will resume tomorrow, December 2nd.

Thank you to our families, students, and staff for your flexibility and understanding as we addressed today’s closure at PES. We look forward to welcoming students back for a normal school day.

Due to a heating issue at Prophetstown Elementary School there will be no student attendance at PES tomorrow, December 1, 2025. All other buildings will have a regular attendance day. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this causes our families.

2 hour Early Dismissal - August 18, 2025

Due to unresolved air-conditioning issues and this afternoon’s heat advisory, all PLT schools will dismiss 2 hours early today while final fixes are completed.

Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico CUSD #3 Families, It is with deep sadness that I share the loss of one of our students as a result of the tragic accident that occurred today. This is an unimaginable loss, and our hearts go out to the family and all who are grieving. As a district, we are committed to supporting our students and staff during this incredibly difficult time. We will have counselors, social workers, and area ministers present tomorrow (May 1) at the 6–12 campus to provide comfort, guidance, and a space for students to process this tragedy. Please take time to talk with your child, as students may respond in a variety of ways and may need additional support in the coming days. Due to incoming weather the Freshman and JV game at Mendota have been cancelled. The Varsity Game will now be played at 6:00 PM.

Due to the forecasted weather, there will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12 for the PLT School District. We will continue to monitor the weather in the event there is an impact to the start of school on Thursday.

The PES field trip to the hockey game is cancelled due to the road conditions. AM PreK is cancelled and PM PreK will run as normal. Please do not send PM Prek students to school at 8:15AM.

Due to the icy conditions this morning, the PLT school district will have a 2-hour delayed start this morning. No AM PreK.

UPDATED! Due to the forecasted low temperatures, the PLT school district will have NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21st. All evening activities are also cancelled.

Dear Families, I want to take a moment to recognize the tireless service and dedication of our bus drivers. These individuals play a critical role in ensuring our students arrive safely to and from school each day, often navigating challenging schedules and circumstances. Unfortunately, like many districts across the nation, we are facing a significant shortage of bus drivers and currently have no substitute drivers available. This reality puts us in a difficult position when a driver must be off work, which can happen for a variety of valid reasons, including personal or health-related matters. We fully understand the burden this places on families when a route is shifted to self-transport due to driver unavailability. Please know we empathize with the challenges this creates, and we deeply appreciate your understanding and flexibility during these times. The Board of Education is actively exploring potential solutions to address this shortage, including alternate job roles and other incentives to attract new drivers. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a bus driver—whether part-time, during specific times of the day, or as a substitute—we encourage you to contact Dawn Fisk at 815-718-2311. ACCEPTING BIDS FOR SNOW REMOVAL PLT #3 is accepting bids for the 2024-2025 school year for snow removal at Tampico Elementary School located at 304 E. Kimball St., Tampico.
