Dear PLT Families and Community,
As we prepare to welcome our students back for the 2025–2026 school year, I want to extend my warmest greetings on behalf of the entire Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico School District. The start of a new school year is always an exciting time — filled with anticipation, fresh opportunities, and the promise of growth for our students and staff.
This summer has been one of the most transformative in recent memory. With the support of our Board of Education, we have made significant facility improvements across the district — from updated classrooms and accessibility enhancements to fresh spaces for learning and collaboration. These upgrades will serve our students well for years to come.
While the majority of work is complete, we are still working on some final details as we open the year:
New lockers at the high school are expected to arrive in early October.
The new elevator at the high school will be completed and ready for use by Labor Day.
Classrooms at the high school have temporary doors in place until the new doors arrive and are installed.
Unrelated to the work with Veregy: we are currently addressing an issue with the middle school air conditioning. We are waiting on a replacement motor and expect the system to be running by the end of the day Wednesday.
We begin the school year with a half day on Wednesday, and we appreciate your grace and flexibility as these final touches are completed.
I want to thank:
Our custodial and maintenance crews at each building for their tireless work preparing our spaces for the first day.
Our transportation staff for their careful planning and routing to accommodate our new attendance center configuration.
Our district staff for their understanding, flexibility, and commitment to our shared mission.
We are grateful for a community that values and supports its schools. I look forward to the year ahead and the many opportunities it will bring for our students to learn, grow, and thrive.
Here’s to a great 2025–2026 school year!
With appreciation,
Heidi Lensing, Superintendent
