Hello.
My name is Konnie Fry, and I am the new Principal at Tampico Elementary School. I taught for 13 years in the Carbon Cliff / Barstow School district. I grew up in Carbon Cliff, one of eight children. I have very fond memories of my small town upbringing, and the small school I went to. This is my first opportunity to be a principal in a school, and I am thrilled to be in Tampico!
I went to college as a late bloomer. My youngest child was 2 years old when I decided to become a teacher. I graduated from Blackhawk College with my Associates Degree, then Western Illinois University with my Bachelor’s Degree and teaching certificate. A few years later I completed my Master’s Program in Educational Leadership and earned that degree and my Principal certification. As you can tell, I am a life - long learner, and will probably continue my education beyond my Master’s Degree.
I live in Port Byron with my husband, Gene, my son Lucas, and my dog Rusty. I have two more sons, Adam and Sam. Adam is a plumber and Sam is in the Air Force in North Dakota. We try our best to get together every chance our schedules allow. In my free time I love to read and am especially fond of the Harry Potter series. I also enjoy motorcycling with my husband and friends. I am a big music fan, and try to get to concerts and live band performances as much as possible.
It is my strong belief that all children can learn and succeed. Every child should have the opportunity, guidance, and support to dream their biggest dreams, and make their life whatever they want it to be. There are no limits on what can be accomplished if you only try your best to make your dreams come true. The staff at TES and myself will do all we can to work with our children and families, so that all those dreams can come true.
