Not snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night could stop the Second Annual Tampico Elementary School’s Family Reading Night from being another big success. Almost 150 parents and students gathered into the gymnasium Thursday night to enjoy supper and reading.

Families were again treated to pizza and drinks courtesy of the Tampico Elementary Association. Then, the students were treated to the books “Ten in the Bed”, “Angelina Ballerina”, “Amanda’s Perfect Hair”, and “If You Give a Pig a Party” read to them by Samantha Church, Tonja Egan, Courtney Sterling, and Emily Mosher, members of the National Honor Society.  Afterwards, over 80 students got their choice of books from the collection donated by the P-L-T Education Foundation.

Over 200 items were donated for the Tampico Food Pantry by parents and students. Anyone bringing in a donation became eligible for prizes. Sean Sandrock won the “Dora the Explorer” and “Go, Diego, Go” Phonics books sets for the 2nd grade group and Madison Howard won the “Chronicles of Narnia” Series for the 3rd grade and older group. The Hunger Drive will continue through March 6th.

Tampico Elementary School would like to thanks all of the students, parents, staff and volunteers who came in and helped make the night another success.
