Activity 4 The final artist whose work you will explore is Elizabeth Lundberg Morisette. Please first visit her page on the Eleven Eleven Sculpture Space site to read her person artist statement and short biography. Morisette has also created her own blog page called re/collections in order to catalog her works and exhibitions. This site helps to keep her fans and collectors up to speed on her exhibitions, and it gives us a great deal of insight into the inner-workings of her creative process. Please visit her blog page to learn more about her. Morisette also has a Flickr site called clementine mom where you can view a very large selection of her artworks. Visit here next. What do you notice about her art works? What makes them so appealing? Morisette uses large quantities of a single object to create her art works in most cases; how do you think this affects their appeal? How do the objects she uses create narratives (stories)? Are the stories they tell the same for everyone who views them? How can the pieces mean different things to different viewers? Be ready for a discussion of Morisette's works! Also, you have another art making task--bring in at least 25 items of the same variety--bring more items if the item you chose is small. We will create memory vessels from these items... |
