Your next adventure will take you to Miwa Koizumi's web page to explore her PET project. Miwa uses plast drink bottles to create beautiful, flowing, almost liquid looking sea creatures. The term PET refers to thermoplastic polymer resin, a member of the polyester family and is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, food and other liquid containers. Her creatures are cleverly refered to as PETs because they are made from the substance of the same name. In looking at Miwa's art works, consider the use of the containers in relation to her creations...how do they relate? What else do her sculptures look like...do they bring to mind any other media.

Visit the site of artist Dale Chihuly...explore his Seaforms briefly, there are 3 different loops of pictures and a short video to watch, and write up a short comparison between Miwa Koizumi's work and that of Chihuly.

Your next task is bring in collected clear, plastic drink bottles...any size will work. You may save them at home, but an even better idea would be to collect littered bottles you may encounter...just keep your eyes open! We will attempt to work with the bottles in a way similar to Miwa.
