Activity 2 In this section you will explore the art of Jin Soo Kim, an artist and professor of sculpture at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, IL. To facilitate this process you will travel to the SAIC web site where you can view selected works and watch a short Quicktime video of Jin Soo Kim. You must also read her personal statement so that you may gain insight into her creative process and more fully understand her art works. Next, please visit Kim's page on the MMoCA site. Click on the image of Strata to read about this piece further. Here are some ideas to consider as you view Kim's art works: What metaphors are being expressed in her works? What might be the symbolic meaning of the objects she incorporates into her works? Kim often create structures that people can enter and navigate through...think about the materials she uses to create them...how might these objects have been used prior to their incorporation in the art work?
