Monster Tech Talk

Ashley P.-4W

The fourth graders at PES are making monsters on the computers.

The first thing you do is draw your monster on Kid Pix.  Next go to Word and write out the steps you used to draw your monster.  Then you will get someone else’s steps so we could draw their monster.  Next we helped our partner change his or her words to make it easier to draw. Our monsters will be on this website http://www.plt3.org/pes/projects.html .  Then we will draw the monsters from the students of New Port Richey, Florida and they will draw ours.  I learned how to find the mistakes of the writing, I also learned a lot about the 2009 Monster Exchange.  What I liked about this project was helping out our partners with their writing mistakes, and that it was very exciting.

All About Me

Tech Talk

By Madison P.

The 5th graders at PES used Kid Pix to do our “All About Me” project.  First, we scanned all the pictures we brought in about our family, when we were a baby, our favorite thing to do, and a vacation we have taken.  Next, we wrote four sentences about each picture. Then, we put in the picture that we wrote about.  Following that, we put in a background and any other design we wanted.  Next, we put together our slideshow.  After that, we chose the transitions and sound effects to go with each page.  Finally, we showed our slideshows to the class.  My favorite part about this project was putting in sound effects and watching other people’s projects.  I learned a lot throughout this project. I learned that you could do slideshows in Kid Pix and that you could put your own sound in Kid Pix.  One more thing that I learned was that after you write something, you can have the computer read it back to you.  I really had fun doing this project!

Book Fair

We would like to thank everyone that purchased items at the Book Fair and especially to the volunteers that helped.  We earned many free books for our library.  Also, the cash profit will be used to purchase items for the RC Store that will be held at the end of the school year.  Students will go to the RC Store to spend their RC points to get books, posters, and many other items.
