Facilities Review 2007
Facility Realignment Possibilites

All of the suggestions made by President Halpin encouraging discussion of district facilities are options available to the district.  The facility committee did develop two thoughts after review of the district buildings and property.  These thoughts include:

  1. Move the Tampico Elementary Program to the Middle School site and construct ten additional classrooms with restroom facilities to house the Elementary Program in addition to the Middle School Program.

  2. The Tampico Middle School would become a Pre-K to 5TH Grade Program.  This 5th grade program would include all district 5th grade students.  The fifth grade student classrooms would be on the top floor 1959 addition.  This would require the addition of ten classrooms for Tampico students in Pre-K through fourth grade in place of the Tampico 1921 building.

The Prophetstown Elementary Building would provide education for Prophetstown-Lyndon Pre-K to 4th grade students currently being served.  The district wide 5th grade arrangement would provide extra room needed at PES moving the Library or Music from the basement or possibly changing/eliminating the use of the portable classroom.

The Prophetstown High School facility can continue as a High School facility or it can be utilized as a Middle School utilizing the smaller classrooms and narrow halls.  New classrooms for high school or middle school would be constructed including a competition gymnasium, locker rooms, lunch/cafeteria, office/nurse and music/band facilities.
